We are very pleased to welcome our first contributing artist for Common People’s landing page, Lim Shengen.

Both works are from his series, Boxed, a metaphorical series of photographs that reference daguerreotype portrait prints, and are a commentary on seeking to establish personal space in a world where that has become increasingly scarce.

Shengen’s creative journey and training took root in his architectural training and diverged towards the visual arts during his time as an apprentice fashion photographer. As a young artist, Shengen is an active participant in the local art scene. He works mainly in the medium of painting, photography and installation, exploring urban conditions and landscapes.
